ADNOC's LNG tanker Mubaraz crosses the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first loaded vessel to transit since the Iran war began, according to Reuters.
A liquefied natural gas tanker managed by UAE's ADNOC has crossed the Strait of Hormuz and appeared near India, marking the first loaded LNG vessel to transit the strait since the Iran war began, reported Reuters.
The 136,357-cubic-metre tanker Mubaraz, managed by Adnoc Logistics & Services, was last seen in the Gulf on 30 March before reappearing off India's west coast, according to ICIS LNG Edge, MarineTraffic, and LSEG data. Adnoc declined to comment.
Ships in the Gulf have been using evasive tactics such as switching off signals or transmitting false identification numbers to avoid targeting or detention. Analysts cautioned that while the data suggests the tanker crossed, spoofing or signal errors cannot be ruled out.
ICIS analyst Alex Froley said one crossing would be a hopeful sign for the gas market but warned it does not guarantee more vessels will follow given the rapidly changing situation.
A few Qatari tankers attempted to cross in April without success, while an empty Omani LNG tanker managed to transit earlier this month.
