The M/T Golden Sapling drifted for five days post-drone attack before grounding in Alaçam, Samsun, drawing public attention.
After a drone attack in the Black Sea, a Hong Kong-flagged tanker that drifted for about five days ran aground in the Alaçam district of Samsun.
The massive tanker, which washed ashore while empty, became the center of attention for citizens, and its final state was captured in aerial footage.
Following the drone attack, the crew of the Hong Kong-flagged tanker M/T Golden Sapling was evacuated, leaving the vessel to drift empty for days. It continued to be carried away by currents and adverse weather conditions until it ran aground very close to the shoreline in the Geyikkoşan area of Alaçam, Samsun.
The giant tanker that ran aground was captured in aerial footage by a drone. Citizens, curious about the ship, flocked to Geyikkoşan beach to examine the tanker up close. Some citizens stated that they witnessed a ship running aground for the first time in their lives, while others expressed their desire for the tanker to be removed from its current location as soon as possible.
