Beginning in November, Arkas Line will have two services from Mersin to
Russia each week on Wednesday and Saturday. The service will provide
citrus exporters with an important advantage.
Arkas Line continues to develop the services it provides to meet the growing need for high-quality, rapid, economical and safe maritime shipments for exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables. Therefore, the number of trips from Mersin to Russia has been doubled to shorten the waiting time for the Russian shipments of citrus producers and exporters in Mersin. Products are transported rapidly at the desired temperature and humidity in reefer containers, eliminating the risk of spoilage. The service has a transit time of 5 days and follows a Marport- Gemlik-Aliağa-Magosa-Mersin-Gemlik- Novorossiyskroute. Each of the ships used on this servicdes is capable of transporting 1139 TEU and has 232 reefer plugs.Efforts are currently underway to add the port of Antalya to the vessels route in December. Forty percent of Turkey’s total fruit and vegetable exports go to Russia. Citrus fruits make up 1,700,000 tons of the 2,700,000 tons of exports to Russia each year. Russia is an important Turkish market and the Arkas Line reefer containers make a significant contribution to shipping products without disrupting the cold chain.
