WAREHOUSE workers amazon air freight facility in LA- area San Bernardino, having endured extreme heat in an Amazon air freight facility, have won concessions, reports LA's Whittier Daily News.
After workers at the 658,500-square foot centre (known as KSBD), took thermometers to document inside and outside temperatures at the facilities, they claim were well above Amazon's temperature readings topping 100 degrees for 18 days in August.
In August, Amazon said the highest recorded temperature inside KSBD was 77 degrees.
In response to the protest, the company increased cool-down breaks as well as access to water, ice and electrolyte packets. Amazon also increased fans inside the facility, although permanent fans have yet to be installed.
Housed at the former Norton Airforce Base, KSBD operates 14 daily flights that move products in and out of the 24-hour facility. Workers process prepackaged merchandise that's trucked or flown in from other Amazon facilities and distributed to markets across the country.
