FOLLOWING a six-year hiatus provoked by the global outbreak of Coronavirus, the air Cargo China trade fair is returning this year, reports Thelma Etim of London's Air Cargo Eye.
The major Asian logistics event, which is jointly produced by Germany's Transport Logistic [Messe Munchen] and which used to take place every two years, is returning to Shanghai's New International Expo Centre venue between June 25 and 27.
Some 700 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors are already expected to visit the 50,000-sq m exhibition area.
The event will cover all multi-modal elements along the logistics supply chain, including sea, air, road and rail transport modes, says a statement. The event also includes logistics solutions for perishable goods, logistics parks and real estate, IT and equipment and vehicles, all of which will be focal points, it adds.
'After struggling with a lack of airfreight capacity as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, companies are now investing more heavily in business development and the expansion of freighter fleets,' the statement notes.
'To meet growing demand for hi-tech products and cold chain logistics services to transport fresh goods and medicines, businesses [now] want to increase their long-haul freight capacities, build international networks and make cross-border deliveries even more efficient,' it observes.
The event's Transport Logistic China and Air Cargo China joint organizers believes the surge in the Chinese e-commerce market 'is also allowing more and more Chinese logistics companies to step onto the international stage, offering additional opportunities for greater cooperation in China and worldwide.
'As a result, [new] cross-border partnerships and platforms are becoming increasingly important, as is the need for smart IT solutions to reduce logistics costs and provide consumers in Europe, North America and south-east Asia with reliable and fast access to Chinese brands and products.'
Dr Robert Schonberger, global industry lead at Messe Munchen, observes: 'Asia's leading trade fair event for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management is staging a comeback - with Transport Logistic China and its affiliate air cargo China.
'We are once again creating an attractive venue for company innovations, trends, and developments and for insiders to share information with one another,' he insists.
