RECENT increases in oil prices at Hong Kong and South Korea has prompted members lines of the Asia Australia Discussion Agreement (AADA) to increase the bunker surcharge from June 27.
In accordance with the established review procedures, the bunker surcharge from Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to ports in Australia is to rise to US$300 per TEU and $600 per FEU for dry and refrigerated containers.
Customers requiring further information concerning the surcharge are advised to contact the member lines.
AADA members have adopted voluntary policy guidelines and have reached a non-binding consensus on the above arrangement.
AADA members applying this new bunker surcharge are ANL Singapore, APL China Shipping, Cosco, Evergreen, Hamburg Sud, Hanjin Shipping, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, "K" Line, MSC, MOL, NYK Line, OOCL, PIL, Sinotrans, TS Line and Yang Ming.
