Organized by the Coaster Shipowners and Operators Association (KOSDER), Shipping Route Istanbul (SHIPROUTE) was held on Tuesday, October 22nd at Divan Kuruçeşme, Istanbul.The event, which featured the Netherlands as the guest country, attracted great interest from nearly 700 distinguished sailors from 43 countries. Schües, President of the European Community Shipowners' Associations Karin Orsel, President of the Board of Directors of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping Tamer Kıran and President of the Assembly Başaran Bayrak, President of the Royal Netherlands Shipowners' Association Theo Klimp, President of the Greek Coaster Shipowners' Association Charalampos Simantonis, Vice President of the International Chamber of Shipping Metin Düzgit, Vice President of INTERCARGO Spyros Tarasis, representatives of the world's leading maritime civil society organizations and important companies serving the maritime sector, and sector professionals attended the opening speech of SHIPROUTE-24, which was made by KOSDER Chairman of the Board of Directors Hakan Çendik. President Hakan Çendik, who started his speech by thanking the Royal Netherlands Shipowners Association (KVNR), who attended the event as the guest country of the Netherlands, noted that the cooperation between KOSDER and KVNR dates back 10 months.Stating that SHIPROUTE-24 is the product of this cooperation, Hakan Çendik thanked KVNR Board Chairman Theo Klimp, General Manager Annet Koster, Board Members and Communication and Public Relations Department Head Nathan Habers for their contributions and support.Çendik, who also thanked the representatives of the leading organizations of the world maritime sector, said the following: “I would like to thank our conference speakers and all our guests, especially the representatives of the leading organizations of the world maritime sector, who did not reject our invitation regardless of time and distance. Schües, and consisting of panelists consisting of KVNR Chairman Theo Klimp, C&B More Rotterdam Founding Partner Connie Roozen, World Bank Senior Transportation Expert Andrew Losos and Prow Capital Partner Gust Biesbroeck.The content of the second part of the conference consisted of ships focusing on energy transformation within the scope of IMO Regulations and EU ETS. Moderated by Piri Reis University Vice Rector Dr. Mehmet Ziya Söğüt, the panel featured speakers Karin Orsel, President of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, Gerhard Quist, General Manager of Dutch A2B-Online and Murat Avinal, Member of the R&D Commission of the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association.
The third and final panel of the conference addressed the opportunities for European shipowners and Turkish ship recycling yards within the framework of the Hong Kong Convention with in-depth analyses. The speakers of the panel, moderated by Ambassador Suat Hayri Aka, Former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, were Annet Koster, General Manager of the Royal Netherlands Shipowners Association, Gudrun Janssens, BIMCO Intergovernmental Engagement Manager, and Burak Kemerci, Head of the Shipyard Affairs Department of the General Directorate of Shipyards and Coastal Structures of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.The opening speeches of the gala dinner held after the conference were made by Annet Koster, General Manager of the Royal Netherlands Shipowners Association, Charalampos Simantonis, President of the Greek Coaster Shipowners Association, Hakan Çendik, Chairman of the KOSDER Board of Directors, and Tamer Kıran, Chairman of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping.
