THE 40th anniversary celebration of Marintec China will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from December 3-6. This year's event will feature smart shipping, gas carriers and green products.
The Senior Maritime Forum will be held concurrently with the exhibition at Kerry Hotel Pudong from December 2-5, and under the theme of 'Innovation, Intelligence and Fusion'.
Marintec China made its debut at the start of China's market reform and opening-up and has been growing steadily over the past four decades, having witnessed and participated in changes within China's shipbuilding industry.
This year's slowdown in the growth rate of the global shipping trade has coincided with new ship deliveries worldwide in the first half of the year falling by 50 per cent compared to last year.
Acting as a bridge between China and the international maritime sector, 'Marintec China plays a pro-active role in advancing Chinese and foreign exchanges and cooperation in marine technology, economic and trade cooperation, ship financing, safety and insurance, rules and regulations, environmental protection and other areas,' a statement from the organisers said.
Some 2,100 exhibitors and 65,000 visitors are to be expected to attend this year's exhibition that will cover an area measuring 90,000 square metres.
As of July 31, 15 national/regional pavilions have confirmed that they will participate in the event, representing Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom and USA.
