SHANGHAI Zhenhua Heavy Industry (ZPMC) has signed a port crane purchase contract with Hainan Harbour & Shipping for Yangpu Xiaochantan terminal, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
The contract includes four gantry cranes and 24 RTGs, which are due for delivery in the first half of 2021. The deal is expected to support Yangpu port area to achieve five million TEU throughput by 2025.
The container handling capacity of Xiaochantan terminal will be improved from 650,000 TEU to 1.8 million TEU.
State-owned Hainan Harbour & Shipping operates ports areas in Xiuying, Macun, Xinhai and Yangpu.
At the beginning of June, Beijing issued general plan to construct and develop the free trade port in Hainan to establish a more open and free shipping system and actively develop 'China Yangpu port' for ship registry.
