Yamal-Nenets Customs says its office in Novy Urengoy registered the arrival of the world’s first ice class LNG tanker Christophe de Margerie (Arc7) to Sabetta seaport on 28 March 2017. The tanker bunkered with test volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has completed her voyage along the Northern Sea Route in the framework of the sea trials. The customs says the tanker will be placed at the technological berth intended for loading of vessels with LNG produced at the dedicated plant. The Yamalmax vessel ordered by Sovcomflot was built in 2016. The vessel will be used for transportation of liquefied gas under the Yamal LNG project (development of the South-Tambeyskoye field). She has the length of 299 m, width of 50 m and draught of 11.8, deadweight of 80,200 t, capacity of 128,800 GRT, ice class Arc7 allowing for breaking through 2.1-metre thick ice.
