WAN Hai Lines Ltd recently conducted a joint ship naming event for wan Hai A05 and Wan Hai A06 at South Korea's HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan Shipyard, reports London's Port Technology.
The Wan Hai A05 and the Wan HaiI A06 represent the fourth and fifth vessels in a series of 13,200 TEU containerships constructed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries.
These vessels are part of a container series designed with a length of 335 metres, a width of 51 metres, a draft of 16 metres, and a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots.
These containerships prioritise energy efficiency and environmental considerations, incorporating features like balanced twisted bulb rudders and a pre-swirl fin.
They meet the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) advanced criteria for phase III. All these ships bear the 'Smart Ship' designation.
The Wan Hai A05 and the Wan Hai A06 are slated for delivery in mid-October and mid-December 2023, respectively, and are intended for Far East-to-America services.
Wan Hai Lines held a ship naming ceremony for its environmentally friendly Wan Hai 363 box ship in May.
Wan Hai Lines finalised a 10-year US$95 million sustainability-linked shipping financing agreement with Standard Chartered Bank two months later.
