VIETNAMESE authorities recently held discussions with representatives from international shipping companies that employ Vietnamese workers, reports Hanoi's VnExpreess International.
The aim was to urge these companies to enhance safety protocols to safeguard sailors.
Additionally, the firms were urged to adhere closely to international advisories, particularly concerning hazardous Red Sea war zone.
Ms Hang's remarks came in response to inquiries regarding the tragic death of 41-year-old Vietnamese maritime worker Dang Duy Kien.
Kien lost his life in a missile attack by Houthi forces on the bulk carrier True Confidence in the Gulf of Aden on March 6.
The discussion also touched upon the escalating geopolitical tensions in the Red Sea region and its surroundings.
vietnam is actively collaborating with local authorities, the employing company of Kien, and his family to facilitate the repatriation of Kien's remains.
Moreover, the government has tasked agencies with taking necessary measures to bring the three surviving Vietnamese crew members of True Confidence safely back home.
'The ministry has directed Vietnamese diplomatic missions in areas of conflicts to continue to keep a close watch and provide all sides security updates, and to proactively warn citizens and vessels operating in the area to stand ready for citizen protection measures,' said Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative Pham Thu Hang.
