THE Port of Valencia posted a 5.38 per cent year-on-year increase in first quarter container throughput to 1.38 million TEU, adding that part of the increase resulted from the weeklong blockage of the Suez Canal.

Valenciaport export containers grew 17.2 per cent during the first three months of 2020; imports by 8.52 per cent, while transshipment grew by 4.89 per cent.

China is Valenciaport's main partner with very notable growth, with 1.83 million tonnes of goods handled (+32.94 per cent) and 165,641 containers (+34.91 per cent).
