SPAIN'S Port Authority of valencia (APV) reported a 2.09 per cent year on year increase in cargo throughput to 6,294,649 tons, reported India's World Nation News.
For the fourth consecutive month in September, the container volume decreased 4.46 per cent year on year to 385,830 TEU.
Rail transport continues to increase and in the first nine months of the year a total of 176,768 TEU entered and left the Valencian port by rail, increasing 6.9 per cent to 2,416,344 tons.
In addition, the number of vehicles carried by rail traffic increased 267 per cent, a figure that confirms the success of the Valenciaport rail expansion plan.
Ro-ro traffic (short-distance maritime services for rolled cargo) grew at the Valenciaport docks in September by 15.6 per cent reaching 51,221 units.
Traffic in the Far East area remained stable and the number of containers handled from January to September reached 585,177 TEU, up+0.67 per cent.
China continues to be the main trading partner followed by the US, while the country that most increases commercial relations with the ports of Valencia is Egypt, up 26.7 per cent followed by Vietnam, up 24.5 per cent.
