MORE than 60 per cent of American businesses in China are more optimistic about doing business in China if former Vice President Joe Biden wins the US election, according to a business group survey, reports Reuters.
A third of companies believe China and US trade tensions will continue, according to the survey of 124 companies by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.
The survey also found that 33 per cent of company heads are concerned about the personal safety of employees in China due to exit bans or detentions.
But most respondents don't expect trade restrictions or tariffs to increase and companies showed optimism on expected 2020 revenues compared to a July survey.
'Despite optimistic expectations for a better US-China business environment under a Biden administration, China should make reassurances to US companies to continue attracting US investment,' said the chamber.
