Under the command of the Combined Task Force-151 the frigate fought against pirates with 266 marines on board.
The soldiers of the TCG Gemlik frigate have been on duty for 208 days away from the Turkish seas that they define as "blue homeland" returned to Turkey and the frigate opened its doors to Anadolu Agency.
TCG Gemlik Frigate Commander Lieutenant Colonel Serkan Saral said that they took pride in completing a long duty successfully.
Saral stated that no merchant ship was hijacked by pirates during their duty.
Saral also said, "The TCG Gemlik frigate serving for seven months in harsh sea and weather conditions is an indication of Turkish Naval Forces' logistic and technical potential and talent."
