SINGAPORE-HEADQUARTERED swire Shipping, a specialist in Pacific Islands shipping, has opened a new branch office in Tonga.
The new office in Nuku'alofa, Tonga, is Swire Shipping's 24th office in the South Pacific region. The company was previously supported by agents in Tonga, a country which it has served since 1959.
'Now as part of a longer-term strategy to have our own offices where we have scale and makes sense to do so, we have set up the Nuku'alofa branch,' said Alex Pattison, regional manager - Pacific Islands.
Heading up the new office in Tonga will be Christina Heng, who has been with Swire Shipping for five years and has a wealth of experience in transport and logistics, reports UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
Ms Heng commented, 'Having our own dedicated office in Tonga will help us to retain a key focus on our activities and allow us to deliver our customary level of personal services, all with the aim of 'saving our customers' time''
