THE Port of Singapore reported a 5.8 per cent year-on-year increase in container volumes in February to 2.9 million TEU, according to the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
For the first two months of 2020, volumes were up 5.9 per cent to 6.08 million TEU compared to 5.74 million TEU in the same period a last year.
Most port results were positive in February with vessel arrivals up 9.4 per cent at 234.66 million gross tons, the number of discrete vessel arrivals increased 5.9 per cent in February to 10,879, and bunker sales were up 2.6 per cent to 3.88 million tonnes in the second month of 2020.
Only cargo throughput in tonnes saw a drop in February 2020 falling one per cent to 47.47 million tonnes.
