The recent incident at the shipbreaking yards in Gadani in Pakistan with at least 21 workers killed and more than 60 injured highlighted the importance of safety procedures and international environmental regulations, say organisers.
"Following this incident, our recycling congress includes a session hosted by A-GAS International, a market leader in supply and lifecycle management of refrigerant and service gases to the refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning," said the release from ACI organisers.
This presentation is entitled "Fire Protection and Refrigerant Gas Recovery in Marine/Maritime Applications", relating to ship recycling activities.
This presentation will be on Day One and will cover the value of recovering fire protection and refrigerant gas in ships.
The conference will consist of a number of presentations followed by interactive Q&A sessions, panel discussions and an open discussion, which will also cover the methods to increasing ship recycling profitability despite low steel prices.
There will also be current updates on green ship technology that promotes a more efficient ship recycling procedures, the European Commission's List of approved ship recycling facilities and much more.
