SAUDI seaports handled a combined total of 791,000 TEU in November resulting in a 1.88 per cent decrease year on year, reports London's Port Technology International.
At the same time, the number of cars passing through the ports fell 22.28 per cent to 64,000 vehicle, while food tonnage declined 28.54 per cent to 1.6 million tons.
But there was a 20.23 per cent increased in the transshipment containers compared to the same period last year.
According to the latest figures released by the saudi Ports Authority MAWANI, the kingdom's seaports tonnage handling increased by 10.37 per cent reaching over 27 million tons of cargo, while the number of ships received at the ports increased 5.60 per cent year on year to 1,094 vessels.
The new line (IO3) will be linking Jeddah Islamic Port with the Indian Ocean and northern European ports. The service will consist of seven 8,500-TEU vessels.
