The seventh edition of Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW) is this year's most highly anticipated industry gathering. We look forward to welcoming many industry participants from across the globe as well as the unstinting support of the local maritime community in the week with multifarious events.
HKMW is organised by the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board with the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) and the Hong Kong Maritime Museum as co-organisers. Partners include the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Invest Hong Kong.
Twelve world-leading maritime organisations joined hands to support the HKMW. These organisations are: Asian Shipowners' Association, Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), China Maritime Law Association, China Shipowners' Association, China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association, Comit? Maritime International, Hong Kong Maritime Law Association, International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), International Group of P&I Clubs, International Union of Marine Insurance, Maritime London, and The London Maritime Arbitrators Association.
Leading international event organisers as well as prominent local, mainland and foreign businesses and industry associations across the maritime spectrum have proposed a wide-ranging schedule of must-attend activities. These include industry-focused conferences, seminars, forums, and visits. All HKMW events will be held in multiple venues across the city. Many will be delivered in a variety of formats, including physical, hybrid and online to facilitate global participation.
With a packed programme of industry-led and public events, the HKMW 2023 will start with an exhilarating and action-packed Orienteering Race on 19 November. Get ready for a day filled with fun, adventure, and friendly competition as participants navigate through challenging terrain using maps to locate various checkpoints.
The business side of the Week kicks off on Monday 20 November with the opening ceremony followed by this year's headline event: the 3rd World Maritime Merchants Forum. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and heavyweight leaders in the maritime industry, such as Secretary General and CEO of BIMCO, Secretary General of ICS, Chairman of China Merchants Group Limited and Chairman of HKSOA, will speak at the opening ceremony cum Forum. An invitation-only gala dinner exclusively for top-echelon industry leaders will also be arranged after the Forum, graced by the Financial Secretary of the HKSAR.
HKMW's another signature event, Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference, organised by the HKTDC and HKSAR Government, launches it two-day congress at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 21 and 22 November. It brings together experts and practitioners from the maritime, shipping, logistics, air freight and supply chain industries, to exchange market intelligence and explore business opportunities in the region.
'Ship Leasing under Hong Kong's Preferential Ship Leasing Tax Regime' Is a new activity theme for HKMW 2023. In 2020, the HKSAR Government introduced generous corporate tax concessions for ship leasing companies incorporated in Hong Kong. This year, several activities will be devoted to raising awareness of this important initiative for ship leasing entities and the role it plays in boosting the territory's position as an international shipping and financial centre. Details of all events and booking procedures are available on the HKMW website www.hkmw.hk. Make sure to mark your calendars and join us for this exciting lineup of industry-led and public events during HKMW 2023!
