Mwani Qatar reported a 46 per cent increase in container handling in July compared to the same month in 2023, driven primarily by a 132 per cent rise in transshipments.
Additionally, there were significant increases in the handling of livestock, roll-on/roll-off (RORO) units, and vessels, which grew 271 per cent, 102 per cent, and four per cent respectively, as stated on Mwani Qatar's X platform yesterday.
In July 2024, the ports handled 131,982 tonnes of general and bulk cargoes and received 235 vessels.
During this period, they processed 12,214 container units, 20,302 head of livestock and 22,204 tonnes of building materials.
In the first half of 2024, the three ports managed 706,983 TEU containers, marking a 12 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
This growth was supported by a 24 per cent rise in transshipment at Hamad Port.
Additionally, the ports recorded a 39 per cent increase in ro-ro units and a 22 per cent rise in livestock handling in the first half of the year.
