PSA SINES, concessionaire for the Sines Container Terminal (Terminal XXI), was awarded the first phase of expansion of the port's infrastructure after the contest launched last August, reports Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.
The expansion will include 204 metres of quay, providing the terminal with a 1,150 metre long quay by the end of 2021. In its final configurations, it will complete a 1,750-metre quay.
The project began because of the amendment to the concession contract signed between the Port of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) and PSA Sines. It'll increase the annual handling capacity from 2.3 million to 4.1 million TEU.
