THE Port Authority of Cagliari, on the southern tip of Sardinia has announced that Port of Amsterdam International together with London financial services company Pifim are the only parties interested in managing the local container terminal, reports Singapore's Splash 247.
Contship Italia decided to leave the port after Hapag Lloyd moved its main services to the Port of Tanger Med.
The port area auctioned covers 400,000 square metres, 1,500 metres of liner quay and a potential throughput of 1.3 million TEU per year.
The Port Authority of Cagliari specified that the project is also aimed at relaunching its container transshipment business.
