PANALPINA's Bogota branch has gained accreditation under the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) programme to handle medical products, after successfully completing a two-day audit by international inspection and verification company, SGS.
'Eighty-two per cent of Colombia's pharmaceutical imports and 47 per cent of the pharmaceutical exports run through the Bogota region,' Panalpina was cited as saying in a report by New York's Air Cargo World.
'We see great growth potential in this business area, considering that the growth rate of this industry in Colombia is five per cent per year,' Panalpina's managing director for Colombia Angelo Dotto said.
Colombia is Latin America's fourth largest pharmaceutical market, following Brazil, Mexico and Panama.
