THE Port of Brisbane, a crucial hub for Australia's beef exports, reflects the industry's robust state, reports Brisbane's Beef Central.
In July 2024, meat products, mainly beef with a smaller share of sheepmeat, accounted for 6,458 TEU shipped through the port, a 10 per cent increase over last year.
The US was the top destination, receiving 2,475 TEU - 38 per cent of the total export volume.
The port remains a key player in Australian beef exports, handling 50 per cent of the country's processed beef shipments.
Fresh and frozen meat was the second-largest containerized export after cotton, which accounted for 6,766 TEU.
'Strong volumes of processed beef exports have continued during July and August, with cattle supply and overseas demand at elevated levels,' said Port of Brisbane chief executive Neil Stephens.
