MANCHESTER's Universal Container Services (UCS) and Singapore-based Ocean Network Express (ONE) have opened their second jointly operated container centre in the Port of Hamburg, reports London's Loadstar.
The 60,000-square metre Hamburg facility has an onsite repair shop, a storage capacity of 4,000 TEU, 25 reefer plugs, three reach stackers and three empty container handlers.
'The depot also has fully automated gates and real-time EDI connections offering advanced security and efficiencies for customers,' said the companies.
Said one manager inland operations Johan Pijper: 'Depot yard space in most European and African ports is being reduced and for that reason, our strategy is to start long-term partnerships with our most-valued suppliers where we see opportunities.'
