The Antigua&Barbuda flagged 108 meters long vessel "Norwind" on the way to Amsterdam from Turkey's Tekirdag port in Marmara Sea, had an engine failure during the passage through the Strait of Çanakkale (The Dardanelles), reports Kaptan Haber (www.kaptanhaber.com).
The ship's captain radioed situation to Çanakkale Strait Vessel Traffic Services Directorate (VTS), whereupon for security purposes the the Tug "Nazım Tur" by General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) was sent to the scene.
The problem was resolved on board at 14:30 (2nd of April). The ship was put right back on the Strait to the next port of call, in Amsterdam.
