Northport expects 11.5pc rise in transshipments as 4th terminal opens
MALAYSIA's Northport in Port Klang expects a 11.5 per cent increase in transshipments this year as it aims to handle a record 1.45 million TEU, up from 2013's 1.3 million TEU.
A new fourth terminal is expected to help bolster transshipment volumes, reports Seashipnews of Singapore. The new terminal brings Northport's annual capacity to a total of 5.6 million TEU. The aim is to handle a total of 3.4 million TEU this year, up from 2013's 2.89 million TEU.
Northport along with neighbouring Westports make up Port Klang, which is the 12th largest container port in the world.
