The Nordane tug Stevns Icecap, which was sold to the Canadian mining company Rio Tinto Alcan in January, is now under way to Canada on the Dutch heavylift carrier Fairlane.
It was loaded on the deck of Fairlane at Svendborg. Stevns Icecap was officially taken over on March 1 and has changed to Canadian flag and its name to Fjord Èternité. The tug will be operating at Port Alfred together with her sister tug Fjord Saguenay (ex Stevns Iceflower), which was acquired from Nordane Shipping in 2009. The tugs, iceclass 1A, have a bollard pull of 60 tons and double Caterpillar engine plants.
