DALIAN Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC), a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, has delivered a 16,000-TEU ship to Italian Swiss shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), reports Rotterdam's Offshore Energy.
The msc Anita, which is the second boxship delivered to MSC by DSIC that adopts the design concept of safety and environmental protection.
Furthermore, the hull line is specially optimised and equipped with high-efficiency rudder propellers and energy-saving devices. This includes shaft generators and air bubble technology. The ship's speed can reach up to 25 knots.
The main engine and generator are each equipped with an independent scrubber, to meet the latest regulatory requirements and various emission standards, according to DSIC.
DSIC also delivered and the 16,520-TEU MSC Vivienne, which has been given the LNG-ready class notation, which means that its design enables it to be easily converted to run on LNG.
Initially, the ship is expected to sail on conventional fuel. However, the DNV-classed ship is equipped with a scrubber.
