THE Port of Mombasa saw increased first quarter container volume, posting 430,812 TEU against 389,515 TEU in 2020 for a growth of 14.3 per cent, reports Kenya News Agency.
Transshipment traffic saw 69,658 TEU against 41,363 TEU during the corresponding period in 2020 for a growth of 68.4 per cent.
Total imports were up 6.9 per cent to 162,504 TEU, while exports increased 6.8 per cent to 156,007 TEU. Overall, 3.48 million tons were lifted in March, representing a 28.4 per cent increase.
The port also witnessed an increase in container traffic, registering 133,904 TEU for an increase of 30.4 per cent.
