MASkargo is the first Malaysian airline and cargo terminal operator to adopt International Air Transport Association's (IATA) Dangerous Goods AutoCheck (DG AutoCheck) platform, reports London's Air Cargo News.
DG AutoCheck permits airlines, ground handlers, and freight forwarders to check the compliance of the shipper's declaration for Dangerous Goods (DGD) against all provisions of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
maskargo handles 50,000 tonnes of dangerous goods annually on average.
MASkargo said that on average it handles more than 50,000 tonnes of dangerous goods annually.
'As cargo types get more sophisticated and complex due to customers' demands and needs, this digital tool will greatly assist MASkargo in improving the dangerous goods handling procedures,' said MASkargo.
Said IATA vice president operations safety and security Nick Careen: 'The air transport industry handles more than 1.25 million dangerous goods shipments on an annual basis.
'The adoption of modern and harmonized standards is essential to facilitate safe, secure, and efficient operations, particularly in relation to carriage of dangerous goods,' said Mr Careen.
'DG AutoCheck allows users to improve safety, enhance handling processes and reduce costs, especially those related to non-compliance of shipments,' said Mr Careen.
