OFFICIALS issued a warning about the potential negative impact of reclamation projects in manila Bay on the port and shipping industries, reports CNN.
During the resumption of the Senate committee's investigation into the extensive reclamation projects, the Asian Terminal Inc (ATI) highlighted that four out of the 15 projects could disrupt its operations at the Manila South Harbour.
These projects include Pasay Harbour City, Manila Horizon, Manila Solar City, and Manila Water Front City, all of which are public-private partnerships developed by Pasay Harbour City Corporation, JBros Construction Corp, Manila Goldcoast Development Corp and Waterfront Manila Premier Development Inc.
'When we saw the layout of the geographical map, it actually covered the entrance channel to our facility, the inner breakwater where the port would actually be going into, and our inner anchorage,' said ATI vice president Sean Perez.
'We have a concession which is going to be impacted because we will not be able to service the vessels.'
