HUMAN Horizons announced the rollout of a world-first level 4 fully autonomous vehicle parking system on the HiPhi X production vehicle, reports PRNewswire.
Human Horizons is a leading Chinese smart mobility and driving research company that made the announcement after a successful test in Shanghai.
'Human Horizons leverages technology to enhance the driving experience and efficiency while prioritising user safety for our projects. With this in mind, we seek to promote autonomous driving and launch V2X technology ready for mass-market application,' said Human Horizons founder and CEO Ding Lei.
This new level four autonomous vehicle utilizes a driving experience based on the integration of vehicle and road-integrated technologies. The process works by using sensory equipment such as lasers, radar, and communications devices in parking areas.
Drivers will be able to exit their car in the parking area and leave it to park itself autonomously. Once returned, drivers will be able to take the vehicle to their current location using a mobile app.
Regardless of any barriers such as no GPS signal, blind spots, and tight turning circles, the new system will work no matter what. The HiPhi X will debut at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show.
The autopilot system of HiPhi X also puts user safety at the vanguard of development. The system utilizes the same principles as aircraft safety design.
Drivers will be able to take their foot, hands, eyes, and attention away from the road because of the 24 sensors placed throughout the car.
The accomplishment is a partial result of the strategic blueprint of the smart vehicle, smart road, and smart city ecosystem.
As a result, Human Horizons established the world's first smart-road capable of V2X driving in Yancheng, Jiangsu province. The team also launched a 5G vehicle-road-city integration demonstration project in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Artificial Intelligence Park.
With the announcement and expected launch, Human Horizons' vision of connected, autonomous, and smart mobility is one step closer.
