JORDAN's Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) has announced the appointment of Soren Kofoed Jensen as the company's CEO, replacing Steven Yoogalingam, reports Dubai's Transport and Logistics Middle East.
'I'm eager to take on this new challenge and I look forward to the opportunity to contribute towards enhancing ACT's position as the gateway of choice to the Levant and beyond,' said Mr Jensen.
Mr Jensen started his career with the Maersk Group in 2001 then to various leadership positions across several businesses, sectors and geographies over the course of 20 years.
His diverse experience, which includes sales management, business development, operations and procurement in Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Houston, Shanghai and Hague, has tremendously contributed to his leadership and skills.
In 2018, Mr Jensen joined APM Terminals as the chief procurement officer for the company's global operations. In the past four years, under Mr Yoogalingam's direction, ACT has experienced significant progress in line with its dedication to continually develop the terminal.
In the last year alone, the terminal has greatly enhanced operational efficiency and productivity, with the addition of advanced technology to ACT's operating system, as well as customised state-of-the-art equipment.
Furthermore, ACT has continued to demonstrate its ability to receive some of the largest ships in the world - up to 15,072 TEU - and develop new relations with international trade partners.
