TRADE between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland surged in 2021 after the UK's departure from the EU, reports Bloomberg News.
Imports from Northern Ireland to the irish Republic jumped 65 per cent compared to a year earlier, while exports from the Republic to Northern Ireland rose 54 per cent.
Meanwhile, imports to Ireland from the rest of the UK dropped 13 per cent from 2020.
Irish exports to Great Britain rose 17 per cent over the year.
Following Brexit, checks were introduced on goods traveling into Ireland and Northern Ireland from Great Britain.
