THE Women's International Shipping & Trading Association (WISTA)
Global Personality of the Year Awards is being presented to INTERTANKO's first female managing director, Katharina Stanzel, at the WISTA
International conference in Paris.
In recognition of Ms Stanzel's achievement the group are organising an industry reception for her at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on January 17.
Confirmed speakers are the Secretary General of IMO, HE Koji Sekimizu and the UK Secretary of State for Transport, Stephen Hammond. Peter Hinchcliffe, OBE, Secretary General of the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and the International Shipping Federation (ISF) will be presenting the award to Ms Stanzel.
Ms Stanzel is said to hold one of the most responsible positions in the industry. She has a keen and practical interest in environmental matters. In her earlier career with the industry bodies ITOPF and IOPC, she attended and was responsible for handling many ship source pollution incidents including those following the Erika and Prestige casualties. She is also a regular speaker at senior industry gatherings, and to undergraduates in the industry.
