HELLMANN Worldwide Logistics, of Osnabruck, Germany, equidistant between Amsterdam and Hanover, will acquire overnight express provider Innight Express it aims for expansion in central and eastern Europe, reports London's Air Cargo News.
The express firm is based in Oreadea, Romania, with operations in the Dusseldorf area. The two principal Innight shareholders, Tamas Aradi and Zoltan Csombok, will continue to manage the company as co-managing directors
Innight was founded in 2004 in in Torokbalint, Hungary - 15 kilometres west of Budapest - and primarily serves the automotive and agricultural industries.
For the past eight years, the company has been represented on the Romanian market by its subsidiary Innight Romania Express in Ciorogarla.
'By expanding our overnight-express services into Eastern Europe, we are taking another important step in our expansion strategy, which we have been executing upon since the beginning of the year, with initiatives such as the acquisition of hellmann East Europe and the joint venture of Rhenus & Hellmann,' said Jorg Herwig, chief operating officer road and rail at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
'The acquisition of Innight Express gives us access and a presence in two attractive emerging countries in the eastern European overnight-express market. We are pleased to be able to take on all 74 employees as part of the Innight Express acquisition,' said Hellmann chief operating officer Wilfried Hesselmann.
