GERMAN shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd has updated its detention and demurrage invoicing for the United States in compliance with the recently enacted Ocean Shipping Reform Act (OSRA) 2022, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
'To ensure compliance and standardised invoicing process across all terminals, effective July 1, all demurrage invoice requests should be submitted via Hapag-Lloyd's invoice request web form,' said the company statement.
Hapag-Lloyd will invoice carrier demurrage separately from Terminal Storage for New York / New Jersey ports. Terminal storage will be paid directly using terminal portals. Hapag-Lloyd will invoice demurrage inclusive of terminal storage in one combined invoice for the rest of the US ports.
To speed up our invoicing process and to avoid additional cost or cargo release delays to customers, Hapag-Lloyd has enhanced their 'Port terminal demurrage invoicing tool' and all customers should now use this tool to generate demurrage invoices.
