AIR freight booking platform WebCargo has added an integrated payment function that allows forwarders to pay airlines through the same software they book space, reports IHS Media.
The news is a highlight of new electronic payment tools to forwarders for both outbound payments to carriers across modes and inbound payments from shipper customers.
Barcelona-based WebCargo is a digital pricing, booking, and sales platform for forwarders.
Over the last couple of years, the company has aimed its efforts to promote electronic bookings between forwarders and carriers.
The company declared that building an online booking transaction infrastructure was a precursor to enabling associated payments.
'Freight and payments are foundations of global trade, but both introduce friction,' said freightos Group CEO Zvi Schreiber.
'Until today, forwarders booked cargo on one platform and paid on another, which is like shopping on Amazon but paying on PayPal.'
UK Spring World managing director Nirav Gandhi declared the tool has enabled it to pay for a confirming booking in ten minutes, a reduction on the days between traditional booking and payment activity.
Said Qatar Airways Cargo chive commerical officer Guillaume Halleux: 'Integrated payments is a natural progression from digital bookings,'
'By unifying payments with bookings, we can provide more effective and efficient service to a growing base of customers worldwide,' Mr Halleux said.
