A SYDNEY woman and four men have been taken into custody in connection with the discovery of 400 kilogrammes of the street drug 'ice' by Australian Border Force officers when they examined an air cargo consignment ?declared to contain hot chilli sauce ?at a Sydney freight depot.
With an estimated street value of AUD$300 million (US$204.789 million), the consignment was found to contain 768 bottles of the sauce with testing returning positive for methylamphetamine, reported The New Daily, Melbourne.
Following further investigations, detectives searched a unit at Merrylands in Sydney's west, where they found $644,000 cash, two semi-automatic pistols, a .22 calibre shortened bolt action rifle, ammunition, 2kg of MDMA (ecstasy), 250g of cocaine, 340g of cannabis, mobile phones, SIM cards and drug paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was AUD200,000.
