FEDEX Express (FedEx) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Guangdong Airport Authority (G) to form an in-depth strategic collaboration and held a groundbreaking ceremony for the fedex South China Operations Centre.
Under the MOU, FedEx and the G will collaborate to enhance the airport's operational efficiency, expedite the implementation of the new facility and expand investments.
The two sides will also promote FedEx's strategic presence and development at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. Facilitating regional cross-border trade they will play a pivotal role in Guangzhou's high-quality development, solidifying its status as an international air cargo transport hub.
FedEx and the G also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the FedEx South China Operations Center. Slated to begin operating in 2027, the facility aims to expand and upgrade FedEx Guangzhou Gateway, improving FedEx's capacity and efficiency in processing import and export shipments in south China.
The facility will occupy an area of more than 41,000 square meters and will be able to sort up to 25,000 packages and documents (including import and export shipments) per hour, three times the sorting efficiency of the company's current Guangzhou Gateway.
