THE F has recommended visual inspections of mid-cabin door plugs on Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, following instances of loose bolts discovered during earlier voluntary checks by some operators, reports New York's Aviation Week.
On January 21, the F issued a Safety Alert For Operators (SAFO), urging operators to conduct visual inspections to ensure the door plug remains secure through the upper guide track bolts and lower arrestor bolts.
This action comes after an in-flight loss of a mid-cabin door plug on a 737-9, which led to grounded operations for that variant.
Boeing expressed full support for the F's directive.
Approximately 380 737-900ERs in service are affected, with inspections underway by major operators such as Delta, United, and Alaska.
The F closely monitors the situation and will take additional action as necessary.
