TAIWAN's evergreen Marine has boosted its giant orderbook, according to Clarkson Research's latest weekly report that the carrier has contracted Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua to build a pair of 24,000 TEU ships.
No price has been disclosed for the two vessels, scheduled for delivery in 2024. Evergreen is the world's seventh largest carrier, and its orderbook is the second largest among all liners, after Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), reports Singapore's Splash 247.
Evergreen will next month take delivery of the record-breaking 23,992 TEU Ever Ace from Samsung Heavy Industries with its nominal intake ensuring it surpasses HMM's latest series of megamaxes by just 28 TEU to take the mantle of the world's largest box ship.
