DHL Express has turned to freighter lessor Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) to provide a Boeing 767-300 converted freighter to cover the DHL deliveries in Asia, reports London's Air Cargo News.
The ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance insurance) standalone agreement with DHL Bahrain provides capacity support for general express freight and delivery of Covid-19 related relief supplies to Sydney.
ATSG subsidiary Air Transport International (ATI) is operating the flights from Hong Kong to Sydney via Guam, said the report.
An additional Boeing 767 has been deployed under a separate ACMI agreement between DHL Express and ATSG to serve routes from Chicago O'Hare Airport to Cologne Bonn Airport via East Midlands Airport in the UK.
ATSG subsidiary ABX Air is operating this route to provide DHL additional capacity to meet the high level of service expected within its network.
The freighters are leased from ATSG subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) and bring ATSG's support of DHL's network to 16 Boeing 767 aircraft.
Said ATSG chief commercial officer Mike Berger: 'These agreements strengthen our long-term relationship with DHL. We continue to develop opportunities to support express operators across the globe with our available Boeing 767 capacity.'
