DHL Express has launched a new dedicated flight route between Singapore and the United States via Central Japan International Airport, operated by Singapore Airlines (SIA).
The routes will fly on the Boeing 777F bearing the joint livery of dhl and SIA, offering a maximum capacity of 102 tonnes, according to Mumbai's STAT Trade Times.
In March 2022, DHL Express and SIA signed a crew and maintenance agreement to deploy five Boeing 777 freighters. Under the agreement, SIA operates new cargo routes between South Asia, North Asia and North America, based at Changi Airport in Singapore.
Together with the third freighter, the fourth freighter from Singapore arrived at Central Japan International Airport on October 11, 2023. It will operate five weekly flights at Singapore-Nagoya-Los Angeles-Honolulu-Singapore, and one weekly flight at Singapore-Taipei-Nagoya-Nagoya-Cincinnati-Honolulu-Sydney-Singapore.
Tony Khan, president and representative director of DHL Express Japan said: 'We are the only company in the industry to take advantage of the strategic location of Central Japan International Airport. We will strive to provide even faster and more reliable services to support the growth of our customers in the Chubu region.'
Kenny Teo, general manager Japan, Singapore Airlines said: 'The start of SIA-DHL Express B777F services in Nagoya highlights Singapore Airlines' longstanding partnership with DHL and it is a firm commitment to our cargo business. Our contribution will boost DHL Express' expansion of its intercontinental air network and Central Japan International Airport's position as a key air cargo and e-commerce logistics hub in Japan.'
Riki Inuzuka, president and CEO of Central Japan International Airport said: 'We sincerely welcome Singapore Airlines' new network for DHL Express, which will greatly enhance the convenience for the Chubu business community with their shipping to Los Angeles and other destinations on the west coast. We will continue to provide DHL Express with the utmost support to further expand its business in the Chubu region.'
