CALIFORNIA food processing giant Del Monte will be moving two of its energy-efficient 1,276-TEU ships, the Del Monte Harvester and Del Monte Valiant to the US west coast from Coral Gables, Florida, reports Sacramento's And Now U Know.
' Providing customers with high-quality products in a timely manner is a top priority of ours, and we are proud to be able to do it in a way that helps meet our sustainability goals as a company,' said company vice president Helmuth Lutty.
The two vessels, each with 634 reefer plugs were launched in July 2020, along with four other energy-efficient container vessels, which helped mark a new chapter in environmental sustainability for Fresh Del Monte, according to a company release.
Moving the vessels to the west coast will allow the company to have full control of its fleet, while also speeding up shipping times to ensure that customers receive only the freshest products.
The ships meet emission control regulations and their scrubbers comply with emission controls of noxious substances.
