THE cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) has voiced 'profound apprehension' regarding the recent attacks carried out by paramilitary forces in Yemen against commercial vessels navigating the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, reports UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
These assaults present a substantial threat to global shipping, jeopardising maritime safety, and are deemed to be in violation of international law and maritime regulations, as emphasised by the chamber.
The CSC supports the International Maritime Organisation's (IMO) urgent appeal for an immediate cessation of attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, recognising the peril imposed on innocent sailors.
'The impact on the safety and well-being of the crews on these vessels, while serving global trade, should not be underestimated,' said CSC.
