COSCO Pacific, Cosco Group's terminal operator, posted a 10.1 per cent annual year-on-year throughput increase to 61.3 million TEU supported by growth at its Bohai Rim, Yangtze and overseas operations.
But its Singapore terminal, Cosco-PSA Terminal at Pasir Panjang, suffered a 14.9 per cent decline while slower growing Pearl River Delta ports reported a 1.8 per cent increase to 16.9 million TEU in 2013.
Its five Yangtze River Delta terminals reported an overall increase of 15.7 per cent last year to 9.5 million TEU with Bohai Rim ports up 8.2 per cent to 23.5 million TEU.
The Hong Kong-listed company's four overseas terminals posted a 10.4 per cent increase in 2013 to eight million TEU with Piraeus, Suez Canal and Antwerp operations recording an average increase of nine per cent.
Southeast China terminal throughput soared 79.6 per cent to 3.3 million TEU, attributed to the opening of the Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal in May 2012.
